A Little Bit About Me...

I expected to graduate in December 2017 with a bachelor and master in Computer Science that is an integral program in NAU. My current GPA is 3.60.My real strength is my attention to detail. I pride myself on my reputation for following through and meeting deadlines. When I commit to doing something, I make sure it gets done, and on time. For example, when I did some projects in programming with my classmates, after we finished our draft. I also needed to fix it again and again. Even a little part of our code is not perfect. Some times, my partner felt boring about it. I encouraged him that we should finish our project perfect.

After earning a bachelor's degreee in Psychology and receiving my Elementary Education certification at Gonzaga University in 2007, I worked at Mario Umana Middle School Academy teaching environmental education in Boston. I currently work as a teacher's assistant in a Supported Learning Center program for students with Asperger’s Syndrome. I work one-on-one with high school students in the program, assisting them with work in math, science, English and social studies. Additionally, when I was in high school, I worked as a math tutor for algebra students. The concepts and techniques I learned from my education classes have been invaluable in differentiating my instruction and supporting each student based on his/her needs and abilities.
Although I have taught in a regular classroom setting, I have found that I am most successful working one-on-one with students. I love that in tutor ... read more

My teaching approach is to customize lessons and activities according to what the student needs in order to progress in the most effective and rapid manner. I teach at a pace that's comfortable for the student. However, the student must master the lesson material before proceeding to the next lesson. I accomplish this by testing the student upon completion of the lesson. What sets my program apart is that I'm very patient when providing instruction, I care about my students' progress, I’m passionate about the subject, and that I communicate clearly and in a very interesting manner. I encourage them to express themselves freely and creatively without being afraid to make mistakes.

A Little Bit About Me...

After many years in the customer service industry; I returned back to school to acquire my Bachelors Degree in Human Services/Management. Throughout the past 10 years I have been a volunteer with the Child Crisis Center in Mesa, Arizona. My duties there include mentoring, monitoring children ranging from infancy to twelve years of age. Due to my customer service background I have excellent communication skills. My education with The University of Phoenix has left me with a wealth of academic achievements.
Eight years ago my nephew became part of the Arizona juvenile system. Having dealt with all that entails, I made the decision to make a difference in childrens lives. It is my belief that children need positive role models in their life beyond the mother and father. I was lucky to have such role models in my life and would like the opportunity to be one myself. More About This Tutor...

I had two very different teaching experiences in my last semester at ASU. The first was teaching an upper-division psychology course to fellow undergrads. I had a group of 5 students that I was responsible for leading in class discussion, providing feedback on all coursework, as well as any help they needed understanding or applying the concepts. The second was acting as a tutor/mentor for students in an elementary school. I had two students with whom I spent 2 hours after school with twice a week. I planned and created fun, academically-oriented activities for these students that were tailored to meet each of their individual needs and interests. I found both experiences to be extremely rewarding. I was able to have a major impact on someone’s understanding and appreciation of something, whether it was spelling or applying critical thinking skills.

I grew up as a member of CampFire boys and girls, now CampFire USA, and have been attending and working at their summer camps for the last 18 years of my life. I am currently a program director at a CampFire summer camp and love working with kids of all ages. A Little Bit About Me...

The most common approach I take to tutoring a student is to first find out the student's learning style (be it visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or a combination), and then work with the student using this learning style. I also like to format the exercises in accordance with the test or quizzes the student is preparing for. I am a very easy going and patient tutor, but I will challenge my students to do their best. I thoroughly enjoy making a difference in the lives of the students I tutor by advancing their education. In addition to school subjects, I have been accepted to medical school, was the vice president of my university's premedical club, and would be more than willing to help students prepare for MCAT.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career with the nonprofit organization, Teach For America. With my undergraduate studies completed in Anthropology and a minor in Spanish I came to the realization that my most rewarding and interesting work had been in working with students and teachers as a tutor in the public school system. So, I decided to move to a very rural location on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. There I spent the next four years as a special education teacher. I taught students with Emotional Disorders, and resoruce level classes in English and math with students with specific learning disabilities. Eventually, I took the lead in creating an inclusion program and was asked to be the department head. At the end of my four years, I completed my Masters Degree in Special Ecuation. More recently, I have been a resource math teacher and inclusion science and English teacher in Flagstaff, ... read more

I returned to school part time in 1998 to work on a degree in physics. As a non-traditional student I was in my 30's, a single parent (three daughters), and working full time as an industrial sales rep. In 2005 I graduated with honors from New Mexico Tech with BS degrees in Physics/Astrophysics and Basic Sciences. Upon graduation I took a position as an instructor, grades 5-12, at a science camp in California for 2 semesters. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been employed as an Astronomer/Observer with M.I.T.'s Lincoln labs LINEAR program, searching for near Earth asteroids. I have wide experience and interests in both math and science. I've also taught undergraduate physics classes, substitute taught K-12, and tutored in a number of different situations.

Through my years of teaching I have worked with a variety of learners with different needs. I have worked with children with Autism, ADHD, gifted children, and children with strong emotional needs. I have had to approach each individual differently and focus more on the way they learn, and less on the way I teach. I try and approach teaching from a position of equality, in which I can show what I know, and not what my students don't. As an artist, I am an extremely visual learner, and try and use visual aids whenever possible, which I have found work well for most everyone. I have a passion for teaching and my goal throughout my career has been to make learning fun and interesting, while supporting the emotional needs of my students.
I have been teaching since 2005, and doing one-on-one tutoring for just as long. I graduated with a BA in Anthropology, and an MA in Philosophy and R ... read more
