I have home-schooled three children for brief periods to assess their abilities when the schools graded them lower than their abilities. I discovered one is a genius (MENSA material) with a writing problem, another has a photographic mind, the third could speed read naturally. I spent time building their confidence that they had lost in the classroom. They were caught up to their current grade at the time and advanced 2 of them ahead a year in one year.
