My goal in tutoring is not only to help the students grasp the information, but to cultivate a love of learning and confidence in how they learn best. As a graduate with a B.S. in physics and a B.S. in Chemistry, earning a 3.98 GPA and Summa Cum-Laude recognition while completing the Honors Liberal Studies program in obtaining both degrees at Northern Arizona University, I believe I have thoroughly learned the subjects of physics and chemistry, as well as math (as higher level math is required for physics). In addition to my education, I have tutored for one and a half years at the Learning Assistance Center at Northern Arizona University. At the Learning Assistance Center I also earned Level II certification through extensive training and experience. I grew up as a member of CampFire boys and girls, now CampFire USA, and have been attending and working at their summer camps for the last 18 years of my life. I am currently a program director at a CampFire summer camp and love working with kids of all ages. After finishing classes at Humboldt State in the winter of 2005, I worked for the Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) for a year and a half. For the NWRESD I worked for a year as the Program Coordinator for their Outdoor Science School on the coast of Oregon. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with children, young adults, and adults. Teaching others in any way is beneficial for them and in the long run for me. I find teaching to be an extremely rewarding activity. I immensely enjoy the process of finding the best ways to reach a particular child, especially one who is struggling with a given subject or concept. Finding ways to remove the fear of math or apathy towards learning in general and developing in the child an appreciation for of a historical perspective the are just some of the goals a good educator needs to have in mind. In my particular areas of interest, science and math, I think it's imperative for the educator to work at developing in the student a respect, understanding, and even love for the scientific process.
