I believe phonics is the basis for learning spelling and reading in the early grades. I believe a strong emphasis on spelling, grammar and comprehension is key to future learning. I have taught grades 3 and six as part of my internship in Messina, New York. I tutored third grade children in remedial reading as a private business.
