I recently graduated from college, with a degree in math. Personally, I love maths, because everything in math is logical, and maths is the most fundamental subject for a lot of things. A Little Bit About Me...

I received my BS in Electrical Engineering in December. I was one of two who graduated under the Honor's Program and maintained a 3.72 GPA. I've been tutoring math ever since my second semester in college and even while I was in high school. I've taken Calculus 3, differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics and received an A in each of them. I have a great deal of experience along with a sound background in mathematics.
When it comes to math, there is always more than one way to attack the problem at hand and each method appeals to different students. I usually start off with one and I can quickly tell if another would be more effective for each individual since I've noticed everyone has different styles of learning. I think largely the greatest barrier to learning is a background context for the material. Many adults are still scared of Algebra because of some past experience as a kid. I first address the pupil's concerns and history with the subject. My commitment is to create a relaxing and enjoyable environment. Next I find the best way that the student learns. Most people prefer one modality over another in terms of retention of the material. If we are looking at physics, some people work best with what they hear, others with what they see or they can put their hands on. My teaching style varies depending on the type of students I am teaching to because I believe that each student has a particular learning style that they find easier. I think that it is important to find the types of learning that each student finds easiest to understand, and tailor the course so that it works well with their particular learning abilities. This can easily be done in a classroom setting as well as an individual basis.
