For the past three years I have worked as an SEN teacher in three local schools in Liverpool UK working with children aged 5 years to 15 years with ADD / ADHD disorders

I have traveled the world with my husband for the past 8 years before moving to the USA. My old next door neighbors have two children. One is a boy in elementary and one is a girl in middle school. I tutored the boy in reading and writing. He was able to read his first book on his own after a few weeks with me. I had to tutor the girl in math. she was taking algebra and was having a tough time with it. In two weeks of many meetings, she was able to pass her final exam. No matter what grade I was in, I always enjoyed going down to the ESE room and helping the special kids. I did what ever I could to help.

I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.
I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! I spent the 2011-2012 school year teaching at a title 1 school in Collier County and have grown exponentially from it! I had several students in my class who needed special help, and half of my class were English language learners. I believe the best way to teach is to relate the subject to the children. A child may not understand fractions but if you ask them to divide up a candy bar, they know how many pieces they want to split it in to and how many they want. I believe that listening is the key to teaching. A good teacher and a good listener is the difference between a child attending school and a child excelling in school.

Throughout high school and college, I've always excelled in my school work. I was president of the math club and often tutored my peers during my spare time. The University of Florida has provided me with a well rounded education, and I feel myself knowledgable in many areas, from languages like french, spanish and hindi, to the sciences like chemistry, biology, and physics. I'm also very familiar with writing term papers.
