As a graduate with my BA in English I have developed by ability to discuss and discover new solutions and alternative ideas. This has also inhanced my skills in communication, both oral and written. Over the past year I have also done substitute teaching at a local charter school. This experience has furtherd my desire to interact and contribute to our youth.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from Brigham Young University in April 2011. I am a graduate in Communications can help in English, Writing, Editing but also took AP Calculus and AP Statistics and passed both tests. I love math but feel that communicating through writing is very important. During the last two years I have worked at an Elementary School as Para Professional tutoring children in Math and Reading both in small groups and one-on-one. I love helping children learn!
Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. This relationship builds a good emotional bank account and children will do hard things when asked. I know that all children can learn. I have seen it while working with the wonderful children at the school I worked at.

I believe that the best way to learn is to have someone discover for themself or find a way to teach themselves the concept. That way, the knowledge will mean much more than if someone just tells them the answer, or tells the student how to do the problem. In tutoring, I help guide the child to what they need to be doing without giving them the answer or spelling it out too much for them. I also have a way of making learning hands-on and am a very visual person, so I will come up with visual representations to help the student learn better. Along the way I also had the opportunity to edit an engineering Master's thesis. I have tutored in paper writing in various subjects as well as specifically tutoring in creative writing.
