I believe that the best way to learn is to have someone discover for themself or find a way to teach themselves the concept. That way, the knowledge will mean much more than if someone just tells them the answer, or tells the student how to do the problem. In tutoring, I help guide the child to what they need to be doing without giving them the answer or spelling it out too much for them. I also have a way of making learning hands-on and am a very visual person, so I will come up with visual representations to help the student learn better. Also, I think it is important to find out how each student learns and cater to that style of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. This relationship builds a good emotional bank account and children will do hard things when asked. I know that all children can learn. I have seen it while working with the wonderful children at the school I worked at.
I recently graduated from Brigham Young University in April 2011. I am a graduate in Communications can help in English, Writing, Editing but also took AP Calculus and AP Statistics and passed both tests. I love math but feel that communicating through writing is very important. During the last two years I have worked at an Elementary School as Para Professional tutoring children in Math and Reading both in small groups and one-on-one. I love helping children learn!

A Little Bit About Me...

I am able to help students build their papers from the bottom up and go through completed papers and give assistance. I feel that I am able to teach and explain the elements that are required in a paper so that students may write better papers in the future. I greatly enjoy the one-on-one experience.
As a former English major and editing minor at Brigham Young University I helped many students write and edit research and English papers. Along the way I also had the opportunity to edit an engineering Master's thesis. I have tutored in paper writing in various subjects as well as specifically tutoring in creative writing. I have worked with and on over thirty papers. I work very well one-on-one with students and am able to explain and teach what is necessary for better papers for the present and for the future. Ever since I was introduced to American Sign Language (ASL), I have been deeply fascinated in the language and its speakers. A year after my initial experience with ASL, I decided to create my own Bachelor's Degree at the University of Utah. I was able to design curriculum pertaining to my desired field of interest.
