When I was in high school I had a lot of anxiety about math. I went back to college late in life and I was terrified that I would have to take a few math courses to graduate. It wasn't long before math was my favorite class and I changed my major. When I was in school I helped a lot of my classmates with calculus. I’ve never bought into the argument that some kids just can’t do math. There is plenty of truth that some learn math much quicker and easier than others, but with a good work ethic and plenty of encouragement all kids are capable of learning these sciences. I feel the most important thing to do as a teacher is to stay positive, and try to somehow relate the math problems to real life situations. Teaching has always been my passion and I was excited to earn my bachelors degree in secondary education at the University of Northern Colorado in December of 1998.
