Perfect practice makes perfect.

I believe that there is never a single way to teach students; even day to day learning may differ with a single student, and I feel it's the teachers job to do their best to cater to this fluctuation. With music, there are basic and advanced methods, and a lot of practice in between. I don't believe that just practice makes perfect, and neither does just talent. Perfect practice makes perfect. Teachers help students achieve and preform at their best.
I started playing music when i was ten years old, and have continued my knowledge and talent ever since. I can currently play twelve instruments at at-least a basic level, four of those twelve at an experienced level, and two at a highly advanced level. From a love of nature, I pursued a career in the life sciences, majoring in Biology as an undergraduate and exploring the plant sciences in graduate school. An interest in the organization of chromosomes led to work with a small soil nematode. I studied gene expression, energy metabolism, and immune responses in a long-lived stage of this little worm. My teaching experience began with students at the secondary level. I have taught subjects in the biological sciences at the community college and university levels, and have tutored college preparatory Chemistry. A Little Bit About Me...

I began teaching private guitar, bass, and music theory lessons when I was 16 years old. I have continued to do so until present day. My emphasis for my Masters was Theory/Composition/Arranging. My primary instruments are guitar and bass, although I went to college on a French Horn scholarship. I have played professionally with a wide arrange of ensembles, from a three piece acoustic trio to a ten piece big band. classical music to folk to dixieland to swing to gospel to rock to jazz, I have pretty much played it all at some point.
In my experience as a teacher, i have taught children as young as 4 to retired adults who wanted to play for a hobby. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Henderson State University with a BA degree in sociology and since then I have worked in residential treatment facilities as a therapist, a teacher, and tutor or councelor. I am currently a CASA volunteer in Fayetteville, assisting children who need advocacy in the court system. I have been a freelance writer here in Fayetteville for many years and have had much of my writing published.
