I started playing music in 5th grade with the clarinet and school band. I graduated 1st chair in high school band and was playing the guitar in jazz band. I've been playing the guitar for the last 20 years and played in my far share of bands. I graduated from the Madison Media Institute in 1998 with a diploma in sound engineering. I have for children and spent several years when they were young home schooling them.

My comments on tutoring Musical : I was the co-director of Deshler High School's spring musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2011. I worked with students individually to improve their acting and singing technique.

My teaching style is tailored to the student. If I see an opportunity to improve the student's learning by using a different style, I will take it.
Most of my experience comes from substitute teaching. I have been a certified local substitute teacher since September of 2010. I have an unparalleled amount of patience.

My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. In my college career, I found myself teaching people everything from music to proper uses of tense/grammar. It was there that i learned that you really only learn a small fraction of what you need to help you in life in the classroom. The rest must be learned on your own or with some one-on-one counseling. I believe that every student learns in their own unique way and at their own pace. I try to cater to that thought when teaching and encourage each student to become his or her own teacher. I think it is important to have a strong fundamental base, but music is more than notes and fingerings. The study of music can give one the power to look at life’s problems through a different lens and give a fresh perspective. Now that I am out of school I see more clearly that there is never an ending point to education. All of those years of studying are not just to pass a test or earn a degree.
