Teaching Style: When the school busses arrived in the morning at Drumlin Farm, I would always welcome the visiting pupils with great enthusiasm. I would determine what the boys and girls already knew, or thought they knew, and what they would like to learn. Then we would go off to have a joyous and educational time learning about, and milking the cows, collecting and scrambling eggs, or planting pumpkin seeds in the warm May soil. The student must do the active learning in a classroom, and I foster this by Socratic questioning, discussions, and project work. A teacher can make the learning experience more enjoyable and more memorable by injecting humor into certain lessons.
