A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is simple. I apply real-world applications to each subject helping each student find that connection for better understanding. Making the learning experience fun helping my students retain the information that is learned.
I have been providing tutoring and music lessons for 20 years. I studied French Horn on full scholarship at the University of Arizona. I have been playing music professionally (getting paid ;-) since I was 18. I play just about every wind instrument know to man. I have been working professionally in the health care field since 1996. Elementary Math is one of my top subjects!

Education is a viable tool for the kids in this generation. Technology also plays a role in the learning environment. In my experience, I find often times that it isn't enough for a child to read material and have a clear understanding. Visual concepts as well as real life examples makes all the difference between learning the subject and failing to understand the general concepts behind the subject itself.
Before moving to Tucson, I found myself helping other students, sometimes elementary and sometimes high school or junior high. It became clear to them that most of my peers didn't understanding the lectures or in class notes that were provided. In fact, most of the examples never matched the tests that were given. I broke down the lessons into sub-divisions that students of all ages could understand.

All through college I Tutored children at-risk and/or having a disability. I determined individual needs and apply a variety of methods to help children learn. As a first grade teaching after school I tutor first grader with reading and math. I like children to learn in a fun way. Students need to get up and learn. Worksheets are not something that I like to do when tutoring. Children sit in a desk all day. They do not want to then go and tutor and sit some more. I like to get the kids up and learning.
I like children to get up and move and learn. All students learn differently and it is up to me to learn what it is and then use that to help them learn.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I will enable your child to grasp any 1-8 math they are struggling with I have done so for other students. In the past I had my own math challenges and understand the frustration I have overcome them and very much enjoy helping others have breakthrough and success .

A Little Bit About Me...

While teaching in a classroom environment, it is difficult to give all the students the individual attention that's needed. It is often that I can help a student get over a small hurdle, but afterward the student is reluctant to take up more time to ask another question while others are having problems and waiting. I graduated with a BA in French and Elementary Education and taught for 4 years in multi-age classrooms. Then I tutored while I stayed home with my children. I resumed teaching 1995 and earned an MAT in Elementary Education in 1998. My experience continued in multi-age classrooms where I taught reading, math, English, handwriting, science, social studies, P.E., art, and music for grades 1-6.
