As an online graduate at Kaplan University, I quickly became aware of my priorities. Students seeking help often emailed other classmates for assistance. I was often told there were very few students who responded to their emails; however, I was one of them. I earned my Associate degree through Allegany College of Maryland. I enjoyed this area of study so much that I decided to transfer to Kaplan University Online and continue my study in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting. I attended graduation in Chicago, IL, where I learned no matter what obstacles in life you face you can continue your education if your mind is set to do it. A Little Bit About Me...

While in high school, I was a certified adult literacy tutor. Since I've had children, I have been an active volunteer in their classes - preschool through elementary school. I hold a BS from PSU in Finance with a minor in Economics. I earned my MBA while working full time in less than 2 years. In my last position, I was the training team lead for IT and policy for the Department of the Navy's financial card program. I have taught classes as small as 4-5 individuals to as large as 1200 students.

My degrees in Science, Computer Information Systems and Software Engineering required extensive mathematics preparation. I have over 10 year experience tutoring Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus and S.A.T. Math. I also have classroom teaching experience of international students with widely varying educational and cultural backgrounds.
My goal is to to break the cycle of rote learning and show my students how a lesson can be applied to real-world knowledge. Understanding "why" helps students enjoy math or, at the very least, dislike it less. I believe Math is just like sports, music or dance: you need to practice to be proficient.
