I hated science and math when I was in junior high and high school. When I asked my teachers questions, they didn't give me the answers I was looking for. Luckily, I got into a great university and found out, after taking a few core classes, that I actually love science. I received my PhD degree in 1983, and then worked for about two years at Harvard University with E.J. Corey, winner of the 1990 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Afterwards, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 13 years, and then started a small company doing outsourced research.
