My comments on tutoring Sociology : I have a BA Degree in Sociology with an education concentration. I provide an understanding of sociology concepts and practices.

Denver Summer Scholars - Lead computer tutor - Taught 3 classes a day with 15 students in each class. I used computer software to tutor students in math and language arts. My students were ESL at Risk students. Tree of Knowledge - I tutored 15 students during the 2011 to 2012 school year in Language Arts and Math. My students increase their pre tutoring scores by a minimum of 25%. My students included at risk and special ed students in first to fifth grade. This was one on one tutoring. My teaching style depends on the student. Some students need me to explain the subject material to them rather than read it from the book, while other students benefit most if they work through a problem and then ask me a question when they get stuck. Though regardless of the student, I always ask questions as we go, because I know that students learn best when they engage with the material.
I graduated this spring with honors from Carleton College. For my senior thesis in Math, three of my colleagues and I designed a Challenge Math curriculum for fifth grade students. Together we compiled our lessons into a book, and once a week each we taught a small group of students. Learning starts with learing about oneself and how you best perform. It is very similar to sports, you start off learning the techniques and then you must learn how you best apply them, and yes it takes practice. I have gathered many tools in my life and they came from all the different activities I have done. One must only keep the eyes open and mind focused to absorb the world around them. I enjoy working with kids and seeing the look of success in their eyes. Filling students with the "I can do it!" attitude is what I find the most joy in teaching. I pay close attention to what works the best for each student. If the student learns the best visually, then I write a lot down. I read aloud and explain for auditory learners, and so on. The most efficient way is to read, write, repeat, explain (by putting it in real life situations/experiential- that intrigues the individual's interest) for most students.
