My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD: I have experienced personal situations in which ADHD has made a task more challenging. I have a great understanding of ADHD and how it can make schoolwork more difficult. One thing I always remember is that it is not the child's fault.

I have taught in a first and second grade classroom for ten years, and served as a Reading Specialist for k-5 for seven. I have discovered that the most successful way to teach a child how to read is gaining their interest and full attention, while observing what learning style is best for each individual child. While teaching I use an assortment of manipulatives, repetitive phonics instruction, and books! Whatever works for your child, works for me! This is my first year not teaching in the public schools, and I am very familiar with the assessments and expectations. I have led professional development on mclass for K-3, and have years of successful experiences in preparing students for EOGs. Therefore, I also keep the expectations required from the school in mind when planning lessons. References from local schools available. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Educat ... read more

As an engineer and I have taught planners and engineers how to use software to do calculations. I have taught GRE preparation for Kaplan (analytical and verbal reasoning) both to small classes of 3 to 7 students and individual tutoring. In 2009, I was accepted into the Educators of Change program by the Duval County School Board. I am now a certified teacher in Mathematics and Physics (grades 9-12). I have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s in Public Administration. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills through writing articles for publication and many professional reports. I enjoy teaching and working with children. While I believe that all children can learn, they do so in their own ways and at their own pace. It is the tutor’s responsibility to ensure that the student(s) understand the material. It is important to show students how one idea bui

My qualifications for teaching reading and dyslexia include use of the Orton-Gillingham approach, Barton Reading System, Davis visual processing methods, and Lindamood Bell strategies. With specific teaching methods, students who struggle with decoding, fluency, spelling, comprehension, and writing can be successfully helped to overcome these problems. Each student is provided individual lesson planning, according to his or her demonstrated strengths and weaknesses. As a tutor, I am able to present material and concepts to students in an easy-to-understand manner. Often, I look for ways to relate to students as individuals and connect the academic studies to their personal interests. I have a personable and upbeat teaching style while challenging, pacing, motivating, and holding students accountable for their learning progress.

When working from my office, I like to use hands on activities that keep children engaged. However, since working online I use many different websites and materials that allow children to be actively engaged. I use Orton Gilligham and Wilson reading programs as well as my own materials. Helping children with learning issues is something I am very passionate about. Building self confidence is key to growing and learning. I have 22 years experience teaching public education k-6. I began my career as a special education teacher and then moved into regular education classrooms. I now tutor children from the Zoom platform since I cannot see them in my office due to the pandemic. I have been doing private tutoring for 2 years.

I am a learner-centered instructor. When working with an individual I try to understand his or her learning approaches and needs. I believe that I work well with alternative learners and with young adults who may be disaffected with conventional educational methods. I particularly enjoy working with adults and feel that I often learn so much more from them than what I am able to offer. When working with adult learners I respect that their personal lives and needs may intersect with our instructional time. Frequently I will incorporate whatever is going on in their lives into our current "curriculum." Most recently I have worked as a reading specialist. I have over 25 years of experience as an English as a Second/Foreign Language educator. I have taught at all levels k-12, as well as University. I have extensive experience teaching at the adult level and enjoy working with

I am highly skilled in working with students with ADHD and ADD as I have taught many to concentrate without parents having to put them on medication. Through being able to concentrate, these students have performed to levels parents did not know their child could perform to. Many students have skills and potential and being ADHD or ADD will not stop the potential. I have seen it in many students who have even become all A students from my help. Thank You. I give an assessment to each student on the first day. I will know the areas of weakness, and learning style by the end of it. I will design a custom lesson plan to address the "roots" of her struggle using the appropriate teaching method for her learning style. Too many times, students struggle because the teacher is using the wrong teaching method, not the students' intellects. Jennifer A Whitaker www.booksandmorebyJenniferAWhita

My teaching style depends upon the learning preferences of the student, as I know each student has their own way of learning. Moreover, I also provide additional supplemental information and practice problems. I believe in learning not only the concepts of a subject, but also their real world applications. Furthermore, I believe the most important part of tutoring is making learning fun and providing students with confidence in the subject being tutored. I have university teaching experience and tutoring students for 16 years in a variety of subjects for students in grades 1-12, as well as traditional and non-traditional Undergraduate and Graduate students. In addition to tutoring a variety of subjects, I also provide assistance with Master's theses and Ph.D. dissertations, specifically Statistical/Research Design Methodology and Statistical Analysis. I also have five years of Stati
