I have taught high school math for the past 4 years involving Algebra I and Algebra II ( at various levels) and Geometry and Pre-Calculus. I have worked as a tutor for the past 6 years in these subject areas as well. I have also worked with middle school students who were taking basic math or Pre-Algebra courses. I took a course at UNH to learn strategies and techniques involved with tutoring. The temptation as instructor is to simply restructure the way in which a student learns in order to fit your view, and those I have helped encourage such behavior. Guidance, suggestions, and allusions as to how a student can improve and understand is a better alternative. Simply doing the work for the student has little value in regards to education.
