Experience Summary
I am currently a Biology Major at the University of Southern Maine. I have completed my degree requirements for my BS, I’m finishing up by taking an additional 9 credits this semester before walking for graduation in the Spring, May 2011. During my four years in college I have taken 11 laboratory courses, providing me with extensive knowledge and experience in writing research papers, lab reports and scientific reviews. I have experience in math, reaching a Calculus level; completion of upper level courses in Chemistry, Statistics, and Physics; a variety of liberal arts courses. I was an assistant girl’s high school basketball coach for two years, and have been tutoring high school and college students in math and science for two years.
Teaching Style
As passionate of a student as I am, I equally enjoy being an active part in another’s understanding and learning towards a new and challenging subject. I love working with high school and junior high students. I understand that the struggle and challenge of learning new material can be so enormously overwhelming and difficult for some it can be deemed impossible. I primarily focus myself on patience, empathy, and comfort. Students will discover they are capable of accomplishing so much more when they place themselves in the appropriate environment with the correct support system and slowly defeat the fear of failure while embracing the rewards of learning. I can see the potential in any individual and will never give up on a student.
