Experience Summary
I am an experienced educator who has a wide variety of experience in diverse school settings; public, private, alternative, and adult
education. I am NH state certified in Social Studies (HQT) and Special Education. I also earned a masters degree in educational counseling at Southern Connecticut State U. I believe this combination of training and work experience works together in a way that I am able to work in a variety of settings and with a variety of student types. I am a holistic teacher in that I believe the student (and his/her needs) comes first and the subject comes second. I can tutor most subjects, offer behavior mentoring,and personal and college admissions counseling.
Teaching Style
Know the student first, then teach the subject! I believe most students learn most effectively when teaching is aimed at their personal learning styles, interests and abilities wherever possible. I always try to customize learning in this way. Understanding my students is the key to good teaching. That is my teaching style. I like to augment more traditional styles of teaching with visual arts and music. I believe in letting a student have control of his /her learning activities and I always teach to NH state standards of learning and assessment, unless working in a more independent setting.
