I got my math Diploma when I was 16. I was tutoring math during high school to my classmates and my friends. I am in college right now but I still teach math to my sister who is in 9th grade, and my mom who is in college right now. I have experience of teaching math but I never really get paid for that and I was not like a real employee.

My major complaint with the current pedagogy of STEM fields is there focus on teaching students to be able to produce answers so a slew of canned and frankly uninteresting problem sets. There is so much interesting literature, philosophy, and history in the fields of science and physics that it makes very little sense to muddle with these less helpful and dull techniques and problems. Physics and math education has become so perforated with cliche that shows like Cosmos and the elegant universe can become hits by just regurgitating the same buzz-theories (Schrodinger's cat, Black holes, the multiverse etc.) in the same, cloddish language (space-time is 'warped' and twisted, quantum 'weirdness', etc). This lack of original language and analogy is not a semantical issue; it's suggestive of the philistine cleaving of the sciences from the arts and it's very disturbing -- these truly awesome

Using the scientific method is the most efficient means to teaching and learning. Ask a Question Do Background Research Construct a Hypothesis Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion Communicate Your Results My degree a BS in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on math. I spent the 2011 and 2012 school year as a math and science substitute teacher in Pinellas County. I received my certification by the FDOE in math and physics. As my resume’ indicates, my career grew in applied engineering and science. My staff management work was promoting engineered products used to increase manufacturing productivity. This included complex proposals to many different industries in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Tampa. My leadership work was always centered on the learning process, since teaching of fundamentals was the centerpiece of my appro

Practice-Theory-Practice. I try to stay very focused on doing examples and practice problems. Some theory is necessary for a deep understanding, but it has to come at the right time. The student first needs some practice or at least an attempt to appreciate the process involved in solving a problem. Then I try and bring to light any issues and cover some theory. Then we do more practice. I helped many students who had previously given up hope to pass the CLAST exam and I taught the math portion of an SAT prep course through FGCU's CAA. I tutored LD students through Adaptive Services at FGCU I taught labs at FGCU for intermediate and college algebra, statistics and business calculus. I taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at a private school. I taught Pre-calc and Algebra II through Lee County School District.

I start off by asking the student what he/she is having difficulty understanding in regard to the material we are going over. Then, I proceed to monitor how the student solves problems. Watching the problem-solving methods of students allows me to determine almost immediately where I need to place attention for assistance. I find it very crucial to demonstrate how to solve the problem after the student has made an attempt, in order to teach the quickest and easiest way to answer the problem. I believe heavily in repetition. Students learn best with familiarity, so I have them perform many problems and teach them how to do so systematically. I have earned two bachelor degrees (BS in Biology and BS in Chemical Engineering) which have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research

Tutoring in math, physics and chemistry when I was at College. Teaching computers sciences for more than 15 years. Founded 2 schools for advanced IT training. Now, tutoring in math, computer sciences, French and sciences. Teaching is my passion. I just love to help my students to succeed with their goals. I am very easy going in a classroom but very demanding at the same time. I always adapt my teaching to the specific requirements of my students. But most of all, I am always available when they need me.

I have a good understanding in math and its applications. I do not have formal tutoring experience as an adult, but have taken a break from my career in business to stay home and take care of my children, currently 5 and 7 years old. I have helped my daughter with most of her math concepts and homework and she is one of the best in her class, and I have helped both with their English and Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. I would say I spend about 2 hours daily (during school days) teaching them and making sure they understand the concepts taught in school. In high school, I was also a member of Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), and volunteered as a math mentor after school for 1 year. My best trait as a tutor is that I will not give up on my student, even if they have given up on themselves. It is my belief that most concepts can be understood if taught properly, and relate

I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I discovered along the way that my true passion was teaching and I can be more effective in a tutoring one-on-one situation than a classroom setting. I am highly proficient and have tutored nearly all subjects and grade levels. Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way.

I love working with children and seeing them get excited to learn new information. I feel that all children are very capable of learning, just some need that extra one on one attention that is not possible to receive in a classroom setting. I love that look on a child's face when they finally grasp a new concept. By helping a child learn you are really changing their future. Even though I hold a business degree I have always had a love for working with children. As a college student I worked for two different families as a nanny, where I assisted a total of five children with their school work and projects among other things. After obtaining my BS in Finance from the University of Central Florida I went on to get married and work in a bank. It was shortly after that when I realized that my real passion was with children. When I became pregnant I left my banking position to be a st

My philosophy for teaching math is to use a variety of methods that scaffold and develop students’ higher-order thinking skills. I view math not only a theoretic but also a practical and useful science that can be applied to real world as a means for reasoning and critical thinking and problem solving. My goal as a math tutor is to equip students with basic knowledge and to enlighten their own logical thinking that enable them to effectively solve problems that seem beyond their capabilities by skillfully finding inner linkage (between math theories) and applying to outer linkage (real world). I have owned a master of science degree in mechanical engineering which involving in lots advanced mathmatics and physics. As a senior engineer I have extensive experiences in applying math, physics and engineering knowledge to analyze, design and development of real world products in var

I attended New College of Florida in preparation for a Bachelor's in Mathematics in order to seek a career in Academia. I spent the better part of that working as an assistant to math professors or working in the Quantitative Resource Center, a kind of college tutoring center. Previous to that I worked freelance in high school, making money by staying after school and tutoring my own peers. The first things in tutoring is to find out what someone wants. Complete a HW, prepare for a test or just improve overall. I then set a pace for them, either attacking a problem immediately or giving a small lecture. I explain a concept, then work examples. I clearly state what steps I go through, and after each step I make sure they understand. After a successful example I require them to do it for me. This can one or many cycles of examples and assignments. I will send them HW problems or answer que

My education is a private-based curriculum comprised of small student-teacher ratios. Since 4th grade I was taught intensive Spanish. A prep student, I excelled in English, Algebra and Geometry. My BA in Political Science included History and theoretical modern political thought and processes with a year in Latin. I studied worldwide economical and political research, often including statistics. My MBA in Marketing and Management Strategy concentrated focus in an MBA program stressing disciplines in business including Financial Analysis, Accounting and Statistical Analysis. I have informal experience as an English, Political Science and Marketing tutor to my prep, college and MBA peers. I have taught private guitar for the past 10 years. Excellent with children, I can adjust my teaching style with the personality of the child. No child learns the same, so it is important to create a le

After graduating college with a degree in Finance I pursued careers in that field which were very rewarding. My wife is a school adminsitrator and I thought a career in teaching might be a nice change as the school schedule appeared generous. I tried it and what happened next can best be expressed as; "a calling". I have taught mathematics at the middle thru high school levels encompassing Pre-Algebra thru Calculus. I have students attending Stanford, Harvard, Wake Forest, the University of North Carolina and George Mason, just to name a few. My teaching style revolves around the student's learning style though I prefer to be "hands on". I am a firm believer that grades reflect effort. Because most students have difficulty in math or just do not enjoy it, my personality becomes an asset. Learning should be an enjoyable experience and it is most enjoyable when a student understands the co
