Experience Summary
I have a good understanding in math and its applications. I do not have formal tutoring experience as an adult, but have taken a break from my career in business to stay home and take care of my children, currently 5 and 7 years old. I have helped my daughter with most of her math concepts and homework and she is one of the best in her class, and I have helped both with their English and Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. I would say I spend about 2 hours daily (during school days) teaching them and making sure they understand the concepts taught in school. In high school, I was also a member of Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), and volunteered as a math mentor after school for 1 year.
Teaching Style
My best trait as a tutor is that I will not give up on my student, even if they have given up on themselves. It is my belief that most concepts can be understood if taught properly, and relate the knowledge to them in a way that would make it simple. Through my experiences with my children I have acquired personal satisfaction from teaching. It is definitely very rewarding to see them gain confidence and understand a concept, especially after seeing them struggle with it.
