Experience Summary
I have earned two bachelor degrees (BS in Biology and BS in Chemical Engineering) which have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers, laboratory reports, and essays in various areas of study. During the eight years I have spent at the university level, I have tutored students in English, psychology, the arts, mathematics, and sciences.
Teaching Style
I start off by asking the student what he/she is having difficulty understanding in regard to the material we are going over. Then, I proceed to monitor how the student solves problems. Watching the problem-solving methods of students allows me to determine almost immediately where I need to place attention for assistance. I find it very crucial to demonstrate how to solve the problem after the student has made an attempt, in order to teach the quickest and easiest way to answer the problem. I believe heavily in repetition. Students learn best with familiarity, so I have them perform many problems and teach them how to do so systematically.
