I am a graduate of Southeastern University where I earned a B.S. in General Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Western Governor's University where I earned a Master's in teaching Science. I've taught a variety of different subjects for all grade levels from basic middle school math and science to Honor's Anatomy and Physiology, Algebra, Informal Geometry, Physical Science, and have recently been tutoring for college level algebra and trigonometry, probability and statistics, chemistry and biology. I entered Virginia Tech as an honors math and physics student and graduated in three years with my BS in physics. At the moment I am trying to decide if I would like to go to grad school to continue on to something else, hopefully with math and physic as at least peripherally relevant. I find it partucularly useful to take time to get to know the student's interests so that I can relate each subject to things that the student is familiar with. Making this connection between a difficult concept and the student's personal areas of interest helps the student feel comfortable with the subject and therefore more confident thinking through each question presented. Once confidence is established, it becomes easier for students to develop an understanding of the subject area that can be applied without the tutor present.
