I like to interact with the student I am tutoring. I want to be near that student so they can I can clearly explain what they need to learn, and make sure they can hear and understand it. After I explain everything about the subject area, I provide practice excercises for the student so that I am sure they understand it all. When I tutor, my goal is for that student to excel in that area they need help in. I am well organized person and always prepared. I am a first year student at Stetson University. Practice-Theory-Practice. I try to stay very focused on doing examples and practice problems. Some theory is necessary for a deep understanding, but it has to come at the right time. The student first needs some practice or at least an attempt to appreciate the process involved in solving a problem. Then I try and bring to light any issues and cover some theory. Then we do more practice. I helped many students who had previously given up hope to pass the CLAST exam and I taught the math portion of an SAT prep course through FGCU's CAA. I graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in secondary math education. During my internship in the fall of 2006, I taught Algebra 2 Honors and Geometry. Upon graduation, I was hired to teach Algebra IB at Lakeland High School and taught there for the spring semester of 2007. Due to my desire to be closer to my family in Charlotte County, I attended the Lee County Job Fair in April of 2007 and was hired to teach Algebra 2 and Geometry at South Fort Myers High School.
