Experience Summary
I graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in secondary math education. During my internship in the fall of 2006, I taught Algebra 2 Honors and Geometry. Upon graduation, I was hired to teach Algebra IB at Lakeland High School and taught there for the spring semester of 2007. Due to my desire to be closer to my family in Charlotte County, I attended the Lee County Job Fair in April of 2007 and was hired to teach Algebra 2 and Geometry at South Fort Myers High School. I completed my first year at South Fort Myers and will be teaching Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Calculus for the 2008-09 school year. My areas of strength are in Algebra and Algebra 2, but I can tutor in all math subjects. At South Fort Myers High this past year, I tutored students in a variety of math subjects one day a week.
Teaching Style
I enjoy the challenge of bringing the best out of a student's ability. My demeanor in the classroom is very calm and patient, which creates a relaxed atmosphere. I am a firm believer in keeping the students involved during my class and will frequently call on students to participate in solving problems. Every student has the ability to do well in school. I think it is just a matter of how badly they want to succeed and as a teacher I try to tap into their potential.
