Experience Summary
"In the second grade my mom sent me to tutor. She was an older women and had once been a prominent local educator. She would sit me at her dining room table and have me do my homework while she watched soap operas in the next room. My experience was stagnant. I hated going to her house and I hated school work. In elementary and middle school, I was a C and D kind of student."
"In the eighth grade we moved to a new city and I got a new tutor. It was at an after school program. There was one paid professional and two high school student assistants. The professional Mr. Litzel was amazing. When it came to my homework he would explain the logic and methodology behind the questions. If I still had issues, he always found a way to help me grasp the concepts. Over the course of a few months I went from being a C and D student to an A and B student. In high school I took honors classes and graduated with honors at the gold medallion scholar level."
"Because of my foundation with the tutoring profession, I believe it’s my duty to engage my clients in a way that is understandable, engaging, and supportive. To create strong foundations and fill in the gaps in concept learning is my mission."
Teaching Style
My teaching style is mostly relaxed, like a causal conversation. I have found people to be much more responsive to learning in this kind of atmosphere. I like to find out what my clients understanding level is, work with them towards strengthening that understanding, and use a verity of learning approaches to help them become self-sufficient in the area.
