Experience Summary
Growing up the son of an English teacher, and a high school principal, education was obviously paramount in the home environment. I graduated from Indiana University with Business Degree, most of my work experience was in training and development of new employees, with a strong emphasis on demonstration, explaination and using real world applications.
As a licensed commercial pool contractor, math, physics, chemistry, hydraulics, technical interpretation and common sense are all necessary skills used everyday in a real setting.
Having two children in high school, I have been a math and science tutor for many years.
Teaching Style
I remember thinking years ago: "What will I ever use this for?" In tutoring my children, sometimes their friends, in addition to training my employees, I strive to create excitement by showing a need and an application for new information. I tend to retain information if I have a use for the knowledge, and believe others feel the same. Ignorance is simply the lack of information, and can be corrected with the proper presentation and guidance. The challenging and most rewarding is to find the method that "clicks" with the student, and seeing the light of realization in their eyes.
