As a graduate from Washington State University with a BA in English, creative writing, and a minor in communications with a washington state secondary teaching certificate I feel I have the knowledge and experience to help any student. I have tutored students in ESL, Spanish, English grammer and composition, guitar and poetry, primarily. After teaching in college and in secondary schools for the last 20 years I have had the opportunity to meet, know, and teach children and grownups of many varied backgrounds. I love the learning process. My goal is to provide an environment for the student to grow to love the process of learning. I see myself as a guide there to encourage the student in certain directions and to lead him to specific discoveries. During my undergraduate years at the University of Oregon, I spent several months in Mexico teaching English to children ranging in age from 6-15. During this time I perfected my Spanish as well, and wrote many papers in both Spanish and English. While pursuing my Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Tulsa, I taught Kumon math classes to children, and fellow Engineering students in electronics. I have kept up my French reading and speaking skills. Recently I have been intensively studying dance, especially salsa, Argentine tango, and African, and have been taking some ballet classes. I find that I am very effective at helping beginning dance students to develop their talents. I finished my high school in Peru and after that I went to Barcelona(spain) to study music. I started playing guitar 10 years ago but playing like 12 hours per day, I took it really serious, I started teaching 5 years ago, and right now is what I do, I work with bands playing in bars, casinos, or recording sessions, and I give private lessons, I work at Rhythm fire school of music in olympia also.
