I have had 7 years experience as math and science tutor, tutoring a variety of age groups from grade school through college. I have assisted students in the following science subjects: general Biology, general Chemistry, general Physics, Earth Science; and the following math subjects: basic Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus. I consider myself to be fun and entertaining and very approachable in my teaching methods. I never lose patience with students and believe that making mistakes is equally as important as making progress. All students can become better writers with a little hard work and a bit of desire to do so, and I can give them the tools to produce their best writing to date. I have worked with at-risk children in the Chicago Public Schools system to teach a wide range of skills, primarily focusing on college readiness skills, essay and resume writing, ACT preparation, and remedial and advanced reading techniques. I am also highly qualified to teach speech and journalism, and have a year of experience in each as well. I feel I can make the most impact on students when I work with them one-on-one, and so I am excited to transition from the full-time teaching to the tutoring field.

I began teaching remedial math and English skills to college age students/returning Vietnam vets in Colorado in the 1970's. Since that time, I have tutored kids of all ages in those same skills. Knowing first hand how difficult it is to "re-learn" basic skills, I have a great passion to help kids learn correctly at the beginning.
