Writing is one of my top subjects!

I have an incredible passion for teaching. I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelors in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language and thoroughly enjoy teaching others composition, spelling, creative writing, reading, vocabulary, etc. I do not have much experience yet in a classroom setting but have volunteered at a middle school while getting my Associates degree. I helped a teacher at a middle school to teach students that were having difficulty in various subjects.
I am a hands on teacher, probably because I am a hands on learner. I find it difficult to learn when an instructor is solely lecturing. I believe that constant practice and hands on lessons are the most effective ways of learning.

As an English major and writer/editor with 15 years of experience, I have honed my grammatical, language and communication skills through the written word and verbal expression. With volunteer work at women's shelter's, I read to and helped elementary-age kids learn to read during my time spent with them.
I love being with and teaching children, especially when it comes to reading and books. I find it highly gratifying to see the joy that comes with learning to love to read and the subsequent doors of learning that open as a result. Students learn with a variety of learning methods. Some students are more kinetic, while others are more auditory or visual. Growing up with four younger sisters, I have learned the valuable skills of patience and understanding. I have found that there is nothing so rewarding as that moment when a subject 'clicks' for a student.
