My teaching style adapts to the students current level of knowledge. I always model 2 or 3 problems step by step before asking the student to try a problem. A student is comfortable knowing that I have "their backs" and won't let them be frustrated for long. This gives a student confidence to try problems on their own.
I taught in two public high schools in Orange and Osceola Counties in the Central Florida area for 5 years where I earned the Professional Educators Certificate to teach mathematics 6 - 12. I have always endeavored to excel academically and so sought after and received a top-level education at Duke University. Having a love of language and having a desire to be able to teach at all levels, I obtained an MA in English from the UNC-G. I have had 43 years of teaching and tutoring at all levels, elementary through college. I took every math course offered by a 4 year college, student taught for one 6 week session, and took some educational courses. After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher working with children who range in age from 9-17 and have special needs.
