My approach to tutoring is to try to be as hands-off as possible. By this I mean that I will not "fix" papers, nor will I write directly on a student's paper if it can be helped. I want to help the student in their problem areas by showing them examples of an area (thesis statement, grammar, citations)that needs improvement and then working with them so that they will know how to address the problem in the future. I also find that often tutors do their best work while acting as "sounding-boards" for their students; listening to the student (as each student has different needs)and then offering suggestions and ideas on how to approach difficulties.

After graduating from high school in June 2003, I went on to further my education at Kent State University of Kent, OH. At Kent State, I majored in Special Education: Mild to Moderate Disabilities. Upon completion of my program and graduation from Kent State in December 2007, I received my Bachelor of Science in Education. I graduated with the honor of Magna Cum Laude because of a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.74. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent college graduate and I am looking for employment within my field. I have two years experience tutoring an elementary student. I worked with a student in second grade and tutored her in both Math and English. Because her mother and I communicated regularly, she was able to tell me of improvements and areas of subjects that needed more attention.
