When I worked for Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham from the Summer of 2005 until the Summer of 2006, I was also exposed to teaching economics in elementary schools. I truly enjoyed this and loved how these young children improved their understanding of basic economic concepts due to my teaching abilities. I moved to Colorado and entered graduate school supporting myself with a teaching assistantship. I didn't like the field I was studying, economics, but loved teaching my sophmores. I have always sought to lead rather than force something upon the student by rote. Most important is to present the information in a way that is both interesting and memorable. It is my experience that people remember things better when they truly understand the process, and have reason to listen to the explanation.
