I believe in creating students who have learned how to learn. I understand that I am only a temporary fixture in the lives of most students. Consequently, I strive to help them understand how to acquire information and ask the right questions so that they can succeed long after I've left their lives. I have taught French and German in both public and private schools from grades 1 through the college level for over 30 years. My most recent experience was in a public high school, grades 9-12, where I taught for 25 years. I have a bachelors and a masters degree in French literature with a minor in German and am National Board Certified in French. I have also taught humanities and am certified in world civilizations.
Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life. I have experienced the joys of my student's successes at the high school level and then on to their university courses or in their own work experiences. It is important to explain and have students experience learning from a number of different angles. Each day involves reading, speaking, listening and writing in the target language. The more senses involved, the better a student can grasp a skill.

A Little Bit About Me...

I know the value of a tutor in a young person’s life. As a child I struggled in math, but working with a tutor I overcame my difficulties in this area and eventually went on to complete calculus level two and even become the math club president in high school. I have earned two degrees, a Masters in Business and a BS in Finance which have allowed me to gain extensive skills in math, statistical analysis, finance and writing. While in high school, I discovered my love for math and began tutoring classmates in that area. My interest in writing developed during my educational career at The University of Tulsa, where I had courses in advanced exposition and argumentation and writing for the professions along with literature classes in the areas of Russian and British Literature of the 18th Century, Eastern Literature, and Greek Literature.
