I have been an accountant for over 20 yrs and have trained office staff and accountants during this time. I have tutored my son's friends in college accounting. I was a substitute teacher, including long term positions that lasted 6 months, for 5 years. I mostly worked in middle school and H.S. Did tutoring during school lunch hours. Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

I have been providing tutoring and music lessons for 20 years. I studied French Horn on full scholarship at the University of Arizona. Leading innovation for education.

Before moving to Tucson, I found myself helping other students, sometimes elementary and sometimes high school or junior high. It became clear to them that most of my peers didn't understanding the lectures or in class notes that were provided. In fact, most of the examples never matched the tests that were given. I broke down the lessons into sub-divisions that students of all ages could understand.
Education is a viable tool for the kids in this generation. Technology also plays a role in the learning environment. In my experience, I find often times that it isn't enough for a child to read material and have a clear understanding. Visual concepts as well as real life examples makes all the difference between learning the subject and failing to understand the general concepts behind the subject itself.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Finished with an A in 5th grade.

I prefer to work one on one if possible, however up to a group of 5 is perfectly fine, because competitions can be made to help improve academically. Also kids/people learn best after making mistake or watching others make mistakes. I am an incredibly persistent guy and will spend whatever time it takes, with no extra charge, to ensure someone passes a class with an A. I have very reliable text books that I use to teach, however I know kids, despise using them so I turn the text into a more practical learning tool.
This is not very professional sounding, however I have helped all of my friends pass classes with As or Bs from 7th grade all the way to the end of high school. I never charged them.
