A Little Bit About Me...

Through the past ten years in law enforcement I have lead, instructed, and supervised many people. While serving in the military I was afforded the opportunity to attend several institutions such as the University of Chaminade, Wayland Baptist University, and the University of Phoenix. After my separation from the military I attended Central Arizona College and then transferred back to the University of Phoenix. I have experienced several different learning environments and have taken what I found to be positive and tried my best to improve on them.
I have always tried to apply a hands on approach when instructing others. It has almost always worked, and when it has not worked I tried to find the learning style of the individual and adapt to his or her needs. When correcting papers or reports I have always found that discussing what needs improvement with that person he ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that my style of teaching is student centered. I am a facilitator to the learning process. Any student who chooses to learn can and will, however some students need more motivation than others. Thus, I take the time to hear about and understand what my students know and more importantly do not know and want or need to know. I also want to know how my students learn best before I start teaching them. In a general classroom setting, I try to ensure I do something for all learners. However, in a one-on-one setting, I am able to tailor my explanations to that student's learning style. Therefore not only helping the learning process, but also encouraging the best that they can do.
I became interested in tutoring and teaching as an undergraduate. I began as a basic chemistry tutor, but quickly worked my way up to a lead tutor position. I then took on the responsibility of ... read more

I am highly efficient at helping students with homework, understanding lessons, and prepping for examinations. When working with young children (grades k-6), I try and make learning as fun and relaxing as possible. Young children also need a lot of attention to ensure they remain focused on the task at hand. When working with young adults (grades 7-12), I try to do my very best to explain subjects as thorough as possible. I also like to take subjects one step further by using analogies to bring concepts into a form that is easier to understand and more relevant to their lifestyle.
