I enjoy teaching Mathematics and helping students realize their true potential. I am not a 'mathematician' , I am a teacher who understands math, so my teaching style is very student centered. My focus is to simplify math concepts to the level of each student for better understanding. Each individual is different. Therefore, you have to know the person first in order to apply a teaching style. Age, gender, and subject matter are some elements that influence how a person learns. Some people learn visually, some people learn by practicing, some people don't want to learn. My style varies according to the individual and what he or she likes or dislikes. As a tutor my role can be from formal authority, demonstrator, facilitator and delegator. Key elements in the classroom: 1) facilitate interaction and 2) delivery of the content to student. The key is to listen to the student, listen to the feedback with a clear understanding of the goals that need to be accomplished for each class.

While living in Bangladesh, I tutored adults and children in English, as well as other subjects. I taught for three years in Bangladesh at International Turkish Hope School.
My teaching style is to make sure that those I am helping understand what is being talked about. If they do not, we will keep working at it until clear. Since all teaching ways do not work for all students, I try to figure out what would work best for those I am currently tutoring, so that they will succeed.

Through the past ten years in law enforcement I have lead, instructed, and supervised many people. While serving in the military I was afforded the opportunity to attend several institutions such as the University of Chaminade, Wayland Baptist University, and the University of Phoenix. After my separation from the military I attended Central Arizona College and then transferred back to the University of Phoenix. I have experienced several different learning environments and have taken what I found to be positive and tried my best to improve on them.
I have always tried to apply a hands on approach when instructing others. It has almost always worked, and when it has not worked I tried to find the learning style of the individual and adapt to his or her needs. When correcting papers or reports I have always found that discussing what needs improvement with that person he ... read more

I feel that my style of teaching is student centered. I am a facilitator to the learning process. Any student who chooses to learn can and will, however some students need more motivation than others. Thus, I take the time to hear about and understand what my students know and more importantly do not know and want or need to know. I also want to know how my students learn best before I start teaching them. In a general classroom setting, I try to ensure I do something for all learners. However, in a one-on-one setting, I am able to tailor my explanations to that student's learning style. Therefore not only helping the learning process, but also encouraging the best that they can do.
I became interested in tutoring and teaching as an undergraduate. I began as a basic chemistry tutor, but quickly worked my way up to a lead tutor position. I then took on the responsibility of ... read more
