I graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Philosophy. Currently, I am finishing my M.A. degree in Mathematics Education. I have over 6 years of math tutoring experience, and about 3 years of formal math teaching experience. I have tutored students various levels of math such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and introduction to proof writing. My teaching style first begins with getting to know and understand where the student stands in the specified subject, his or her needs of the subject, and then determining his or her strengths and weaknesses. Lastly, I like to emphasize how and when the aforementioned subject will be of value during the students career and/or lifetime. Once this is all determined the relationship between the student and teacher often determines how fast and how successful the course will be for both individuals. Each child is different. A good teacher helps each student meet their expectations while keeping the child interested in the subject matter. Each day my goal is the same, to get the most out of my students, and this can only be done when they are attentive and motivated. The best teachers I've had, and the one's I've gotten the most out of working with, have all had one thing in common; they cared about what they taught and even more so about those whom they were teaching. I attended Northern Arizona University, whereupon I fell in love with sociology. I have a firm grasp of basic and advanced sociological concepts, specializing in historical analysis and research methods. After school, I spent my time working temporary jobs, and found one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I prefer to work with small groups of students or individuals as it is easier to meet each student's needs. I am very concise and methodical, but am also sensitive enough to pace myself according to the student's needs. Of course, experience is the best teacher, so I usually review the points that the student has questions on, provide an example of the principles in action, and then help the student work through some problems until he or she understands satisfactorily.
