Humorous experienced tutor with unconventional methods!

My approach is a little different using humor to destress students. I believe in each student understanding the underlying concepts via instruction, physical materials and hands-on activities. I have a lot of patience. I love working with different and even difficult and shy students.
I am a seasoned veteran tutor, and I enjoy, no love, mentoring, teaching, volunteering, training, or instructing almost as a hobby! I am especially passionate about career education and counseling as well as psychology and mathematics. Oooh and English too! My method is to reach students exactly where there at and use methods that would stimulate all types of learners . Once I was teaching a group of sixth graders who would be entering Algebra soon. I gave them a true life math example. Our equasion; a party with the number of students, quantity of different items and costs. When we devided the items their costs with the number of students we came up with how much each student had to pitch in. In this example I had some items that were to be used and they were able to touch them. I also told them very clearly what was going on while I was writing it all down. This stimulated many different learning types

In spring of 2008 I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance. During my time at ASU, I had the opportunity to work with many world-renowned educators and musicians; gaining valuable insight into the world of professional music performance. I have had experience teaching guitar and trombone privately in Arizona since 2004 in addition to playing and recording with well-known groups in the area. Music has also afforded me the opportunity to travel and in 2009, I was fortunate enough to be selected to compete in two jazz trombone competitions in Aarhus, Denmark as part of that year’s International Trombone Festival. I was also a contracted musician on a well-known cruise line for six months in 2010.
