A Little Bit About Me...

Because I had such a hard time learning and focusing in a regimented, institutional-type learning setting in school, and yet was a brilliant child, I teach extremely well in a relational more relaxed approach. Rather than "shove information down throats" I am interested in each individual, and to get to know their personality and learning style. I have found that when there is relationship and trust between the mentor and the student, not only does the student learn the information more effectively, but as the mentor, I am able to teach and speak more clearly. Rather than lecturing or preaching at them about what I think life should be like for them, I take them hiking, out to eat, to movies etc.

I began there as a Building Maintainance Mechanic and worked my way up to a vocational education teacher. After that I worked at St. Johns School for boys in Cabazon California. While I lived in California I also worked at a Christian High School called Joshua Springs High School where I began teaching a free small wood Shop class and worked my way up to a regular teacher. In spring of 2008 I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance. During my time at ASU, I had the opportunity to work with many world-renowned educators and musicians; gaining valuable insight into the world of professional music performance. I have had experience teaching guitar and trombone privately in Arizona since 2004 in addition to playing and recording with well-known groups in the area. Music has also afforded me the opportunity to travel and in 2009, I was fortunate enough to be selected to compete in two jazz trombone competitions in Aarhus, Denmark as part of that year’s International Trombone Festival.
