I am certified to teach political science and have provided tutoring in this area in the past. My teaching style consists of a combination of direct instruction, active student participation, and frequent and differentiated assessment. My teaching style is probably best described as interactive. I encourage students to not only read the assignment and the assigned homework, but to question the validity of the issues being discussed, including what the author has written. I came to teaching as a second career when I realized I was not happy in local politics. I earned a degree in Secondary Education with English certification grades 5-12. I have taught in rural as well as urban schools and schools in between. I have a strong command of grammar and reading comprehension skills. I have lead students in debate teams as well.
