I first like to explain the tangible concept to students, citing real-world examples. Next, it is appropriate to transition to explaining the details of the concept/equation at hand. Finally, most importantly, I believe in extensive practice of multiple problems. It is especially helpful to show students how to solve problems in different ways which arrive at the same answer.
