My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Retired secondary classroom teacher after 32 years in public education. I taught Algebra I for 10 years. Currently teaching at several SAT/ACT College Prep Businesses in Plano, Frisco, Argyle,and Denton.

I am a retired classroom teacher after 35 years of teaching experience in public education. I currently teach at UNT and NCTC. I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, regular and Pre-AP Algebra II, regular and Pre-AP Pre-Calculus,Trigonometry, and SAT/ACT Prep. I have always had a passion for learning, and helping others learn. In middle school, High School and College, other students came to me for help with assignments. Knowing what it is like to be a student, I try to see from the students point of view. Each student teaches me their own way to learn. I enjoy learning and hope that I can share that joy with others.
My degree in Engineering has given me plenty of experience in math and science. I have also had graduate courses in Physics and Engineering. I have learned most people achieve best in a fun and interactive environment. Learning games, role modeling, flash cards, art, and music are a few tools that are used. Another important component is trust and teamwork. Once students know you have their best interest at heart, trust is built. In a one-to-one situation, a teacher must emphasize teamwork.
