As a 2009 graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, holding a Bachelor of Arts, with a minor in English and American Literature, and with the teaching experience that I have gained in various fields since 2004, I feel that I am well-suited for this job. I have taught Reading ESL at the Transmountain EPCC Campus, as well as French at L’Alliance Francaise d’El Paso, and Spanish/ESL/French at La Paz Language Academy. I will also be teaching a Spanish beginners’ course at the History Museum of El Paso, giving evening classes to staff and community members, once a week, during the Fall semester of 2012. Learning phonics is one of the most challenging aspects of learning to read in English because it's very different from learning to read in Spanish, where almost everything is written just as it sounds.
