My teaching style is basic. I feel it is most important for a student to grasp the basics before they can move on to more complicated subject material. Upon the completion of my undergraduate studies, I was encouraged to sign up as a substitute teacher. This subsequently led to a full time position, where I taught Junior High Mathematics. I also coached wrestling and mentored the Quiz Bowl team.

I started tutoring in 7th grade back in 1976. I have been tutoring my own kids for over 14 years. I have been a Scout leader for over 9 years. I worked with boys ages 5 to 18 years of age. I have brought 2 learning disabled teens into my home to help them graduate High School. Both have gone on to be Certified Welders. I knew after taking a couple of courses when I went back to graduate school in 2003 that I wanted to go into teaching, at least on a part time basis. My daughter is an elementary school teacher, and I felt that I had an influence on her choice of a major. I enjoy seeing students learn.
