**My comments on tutoring Logic :** Expert at all Logic concepts. Particularly good at explaining logic from a Discrete Math perspective, building student fluency in logic starting with truth tables and propositional statements, logical connectives AND and OR and negation NOT, commutative, associative and distributive laws, as well as other laws which can be useful such as the idempotent law, rules of inference for proofs such as modus ponens, modus tollens, etc., and methods of proof, as well as logical fallacies. HOT TIP: How to reverse engineer a proof when you have no idea what you're doing on a test and work backward from the conclusion you're trying to prove. Instead of going forward from the start and saying, "If this is true, then this next thing must be true, and this next thing must be true, ..." instead work backward and say, "If this conclusion is true, then this previous thing MUST HAVE BEEN true, and this previous thing MUST HAVE BEEN true..." I will teach you all the dirty (but legal) tricks to survive hard tests.

I am currently employed by a college in Roanoke, Virginia as a tutor of mathematics, chemistry, and computer science and tutor elementary school, middle school, high school, college students, and others professionally. For the last 23 years, it has been so fulfilling working for three colleges and tutoring independently over 2,000 students of all ages in all areas of math and computer science, as well as college writing, adult literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL). I have a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and computer science and am internationally certified by the College Reading and Learning Association. I love tutoring more every year I do it.

If you watch me closely during our sessions, you can see me secretly paying keen attention to you and how you learn best. For example, you might say, "It LOOKS like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! LO ... read more

**Experienced Tutor**

As an engineer and I have taught planners and engineers how to use software to do calculations. I have taught GRE preparation for Kaplan (analytical and verbal reasoning) both to small classes of 3 to 7 students and individual tutoring. In 2009, I was accepted into the Educators of Change program by the Duval County School Board. I am now a certified teacher in Mathematics and Physics (grades 9-12). I have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s in Public Administration. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills through writing articles for publication and many professional reports.

I enjoy teaching and working with children. While I believe that all children can learn, they do so in their own ways and at their own pace. It is the tutor’s responsibility to ensure that the student(s) understand the material. It is important to show students how one id ... read more

**I will give your child my best effort**

I have always endeavored to excel academically and so sought after and received a top-level education at Duke University. Having a love of language and having a desire to be able to teach at all levels, I obtained an MA in English from the UNC-G. I have had 43 years of teaching and tutoring at all levels, elementary through college. I have taught high school English, college English, SAT Prep, and GRE Prep---both the verbal and the math (I scored almost 800 on the math section). I was responsible for setting up a city-wide tutor-training program for children with learning disabilities, wrote the curriculum, interviewed and selected the tutors and staff, and served as the administrator and supervisor.

My primary aim in tutoring students is to assess exactly where they are academically, including reading level and math skills. Then I teach to their exact level. I help them to set up ... read more

**7 years of tutoring experience + 4 years in fin industry**

I want to get the most out of each hour of tutoring. I like to focus on the task, stick to the plan and get high results. My teaching style varies from one student to another depending on their personalities and learning styles. I think that everyone is equally talented and everyone is able to get an A for the hardest exam if puts enough time & effort into it.

8 years of experience with students of different ages and abilities. I enjoy working with students one on one and in small groups since that helps to focus on their weak sides and work them out. I try not only to help students memorize techniques but ask them to create new ways of solving problems which stimulates their creative thinking. As a nonstop student, I know that practice is the key to any course. The more you practice, the more confident you get. So I never lose a minute at my classes and try to maximize productivit ... read more

**20+Yrs Teaching/Tutoring College/H.S.; Masters Math&Physics**

I hold two master's degrees -- one in applied mathematics, one in physics. I started teaching math in 1999. While many of the intervening years saw me as a part-time adjunct instructor of mathematics, I did enjoy a full-time appointment to the math faculty of Alabama A&M University for 5 of those years. I have also used my skills in industry and government, most notably at NASA and Intergraph. I've taught just about every undergraduate math course and tutored some graduate ones, too. I started out teaching introductory statistics and probability for several semesters at Oakwood College (now Oakwood University). I have also taught at UAH, Strayer, and Calhoun. I am familiar with the undergrad curriculum. I've tutored students from schools all over the world -- high school and college. I graduated from Oregon State University this year with double Honors BS degrees in Earth Science (with a Climatology focus) and Environmental Economics & Politics. My Honors Thesis, which is in the final stages of submission, is on the testing of a new variable mixing efficiency variable for use in our current climate models. I am an inductee of Phi Beta Kappa, the most prestigious college Honors Society in the US. In high school, I almost exclusively took honors classes and AP classes. I can confidently teach any subject that is taught in grade school. I have experience with AP tests, the SAT, and the GRE. I spent two years abroad during high school in Astana, Kazakhstan and come from a Russian background, so I am a native Russian and English speaker. My Motto: With each concept I did not know, there’s always a journey. Even if I don't know something, I will strive to learn it. This motto has proven to be very invaluable… even early on throughout high school as I received a full academic scholarship to a well respected and prestigious university. As a graduate at Transylvania University, I understand the struggles that school life presents. Either the teacher doesn't explain things in a way the student understands, or the student happens to lack the motivation necessary to be successful in that class. Keeping this in mind, I will provide the best structure, information, and strategy(ies) possible to give your student ultimate success in their math class. I have tutored various levels of math at various ages/abilities. My tutoring first started when I was in high school in an after school program. Mainly, I would help with algeb ... read more

Hello, I graduated for UC - College of Engineering in 2003 and have taken required coursework in math and science. In the past, I have tutored math to family, friends, co-workers and at a learning center as part-time employment. I can effectively tutor Algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry and lower math within the math sector.
