I am studying Secondary Math Education at the University of Vermont. I am a senior and I have completed all of my education and math requirements for my degree. In the spring I will be student teaching in one of the local schools. Last year, I spent over 100 hours in the classroom observing and teaching. This year, I am in a middle school classroom 2 hours a week teaching math to English Language Learners. I also spend time tutoring students in the local teen centers in Burlington. Over the summer, I worked at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, VT at a summer camp teaching children about aquatic biology and how to make inventions. Students learn differently and therefore it is my belief that you must observe first and then you have to adapt to the student, especially in a one on one situation.
