I am a High School Student at Legend High School I am a level 8 gymnast so weekends are the only time I have open. I love working with younger kids. I have worked with younger kids in Science fields before and their grades have gone up on an average of 4%. I also make sure the child is comprehending what they are learning instead of going through the motions and just finding patterns within the problems.
I like to be serious and get things done but I also like to have fun. I like to take things they are interested in and incorporate that into their learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

From the time I was in 4th grade, I have always had a strong passion to teach our young people and assist in developing the next generation that will run this country. Being deeply inspired by multiple teachers throughout my schooling, I too have wanted to make the same type of impact on children. I recently completed two years of teaching Physical Science in a secondary school in Namibia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to that I earned a BS in Computer Science which included a mathematics minor and courses in physics and chemistry. I tutored throughout my time in the Peace Corps, my undergraduate studies and my high school years.
As a classroom teacher I quickly learned to engage each student individually. I prefer tutoring because I can tailor my instruction to a specific student. Children have different learning styles so it is my responsibility as the instructor to adapt lessons to maximize learning for each child. Ideally I am able to guide a student to realize concepts in their own terms rather then dictate facts to them.

Teaching is a great joy for me, as it is easy to see I love working with children of all ages. I enjoy the challenge that arises when teaching a group of children that learn in different ways. Understanding that it is important for all to learn, finding creative ways to get points across and bring the students into the topic has always been amazing. Engaging them in the subjects, not just talking to them, motivates them to be more attentive. This method also allows them to see what they know. By not completely depending upon me, they then begin to push themselves.
