My comments on tutoring Painting : Watercolor is my favorite.

I taught a collegiate level graphic design course to intermediate and advanced students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Typography, digital design, and consistency within design were emphasized. Previously I taught a graduate level course in surgical orientation and conducted independent studies with medical illustration students.

I have experience as a volunteer tutor in social studies and math, a paid tutor in reading, a student teacher, and as a substitute for the last year and a half. I also have experience as a mentor to young people through the YMCA.
My teaching style revolves around the specific learning needs of students because each person not only learns differently but has specific strengths and weakness. As teachers it is our job to meet the needs of all learners. I do not believe in presently material in one way, or one way all the time.

I became a para and went on to get my teaching degrees.Initially I received a BS in Human Services(This degree dealt with ethics, social work, counseling, and confidential issues) I felt these were issues as a teacher that would be beneficial. After working as a substitute for 2 years,I applied and was offered a Special Education position. I took the job and went to Regis University while I was working with 7th and 8th grade students. I worked at this position for three years, the year I graduated 2007 the school was faced with downsizing and I was let go. I worked the following year with 7th and 8th grade students in a different school district. I continue to move forward with learning and teaching.

While I was attending college I worked in child care with a variety of ages preparing lessons for enrichment. I also taught as an adjunct professor for adult ESL at Aims Community College. After finishing my degree, I taught for five years at Wiggins Elementary in 2nd and 6th grade. I was trained in FAST reading program as well as many others for teaching reading and math. For the past two years, I have been living in the country of Macedonia as a US Peace Corps volunteer. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, I determined that I wanted to pursue a teaching career. I enrolled in the Master’s in Elementary Education program at the University of Phoenix. My work in elementary schools has been as a paraeducator, both as an instructional para with general classroom duties and as an intensive special needs para. This experience has allowed me to work with students with Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and various other disabilities. I am currently student teaching in kindergarten, and will be graduating and moving to Colorado Springs at the end of May. A Little Bit About Me...

It wasn’t until my boys started school and I spent time in their classrooms that I realized I had a passion and an aptitude for working with young students. I was hired by the Boulder Valley School District in 2007 as a para and soon after was working one on one with special needs students in kindergarten. This realization prompted me to re-enter the college scene as a graduate student, which I finished this December.
I do best working one on one with students or in very small groups. I like to get to know my students. This helps me determine how they learn and how I can make their experience as useful as possible. Also, its more fun to do work with someone that you respect and understand.
